Medical students are very busy. The demands of studying medicine are extraordinary. Why then is it so important, on top of all there is to learn, to bother engaging in health and medical research? Research training and experience are not just ‘nice to have’ but it is a ‘must’ for our doctors in the future. Increased research training in medical programs is beneficial for the student’s professional pathway, their evolving practice, and most importantly, for the health of the patients and communities they serve. A research experience may be the first time a student has had to write and record what they do, think, and find coherently, concisely, and precisely. Therefore, SCORE CIMSA FK UIN SH has provided training on basic research to provide provisions for CIMSA FK UIN SH members, especially SCORE members when doing research.
On Saturday 11th September 2021, SCORE CIMSA FK UIN SH held an activity called “SCORE Goes Public (SGP) 1: Basic Research”. The activity was a webinar for SCORE CIMSA FK UIN SH members[1] [2] which provided knowledge about research that was brought by Dr. dr. Francisca A. Tjakradidjaja, MS, SpGK as a speaker. The event started at 09.00 a.m. with an opening speech by Local Coordinator, and Project Officer of SGP 1, continued with the presentations by the speaker who were guided by our Local Officer on Research Exchange, Mauliddhiya as a master of ceremony. After that, we held a QnA session. During that session, the participants were very active and very enthusiastic to know more about research. The activity was closed by giving certificate and having a photo session with all participants and speakers.
Finally, we are very grateful for knowing that the average post-test score which had been given in the beginning of the webinar has increased. Moreover, all participants also gave really fine feedback. We hope this activity, SGP 1, will be beneficial for all participants, especially SCORE members who focus on research fields. Last but not least, we also kindly hope that after this activity, members of CIMSA FK UIN SH can use their knowledge and apply when doing research as a way to improve the nation’s health.
