As we know, Plastic waste is one of the hazardous and toxic waste (B3) that plays a role in environmental damage. The characteristics of plastic that are not easily degraded naturally have caused the problem of plastic waste to be completely unresolved to date and has become a global polemic. In addition, paper is an item that is widely used by people of all ages. The use of a lot of paper will cause an increase in the amount of paper waste. Paper waste is waste that includes inorganic waste which is very difficult to decompose and takes a long time to be decomposed even for decades. Therefore, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH Jakarta realizes that an activity is needed to improve students' knowledge and skills related to recycling plastic and paper waste, their impact on the environment, and a zero waste lifestyle. Therefore, we initiate a Community Development called GO GREEN to increase the knowledge about plastic and paper waste as well as teaching them how to recycle it and also to support SDG Point 13 (Climate Action), CIMSA Program (Environmental Sustainability) and IFMSA Programs (Environment & Health).
On Saturday 15th January 2022, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH held the first intervention of GO GREEN. This activity was a webinar which increased knowledge and skills of FK UIN SH preclinical students in recycling plastic and paper waste, paying attention to environment, and zero lifestyle via zoom meetings. The event started at 09.20 a.m. with the opening speech by the Local Coordinator, Local Officer on Human Rights and Peace, and Project Officer of GO GREEN, continued with the presentations by the speakers, Andi Pananrang, from Saya Pilih Bumi. After that, we held Q&A session. During that session, the participants were very active and very enthusiastic. The activity was closed by giving certificates and having a photo session with all participants and the speaker.
We are really thankful knowing that the event went successfully. Shown by how active and the good feedback from the participants. Hopefully, this event, GO GREEN, will be useful and beneficial for all members of SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH and other participants.
