The COVID-19 pandemic affects the lives of many people, which we need to do physical and social distancing which hampers community activities, including children with special needs. Most of them do not get the right therapy and good education methode during pandemic because of health protocols that must be adhered to. This impacts are also felt by their parents who become stressed during pandemic in addition to declining income, besides that their children do not get the therapy they should be given and their education has many obstacles such as lack of internet access, gadgets, and unsupportive environment.

Therefore, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH opened opportunities for parents of children with special needs to be able to give their best in raising their children by doing independent therapy and providing the best way of distance learning methods during pandemic.

On Sunday, October 24, 2021, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH held an activity called HAUS (Helping A Child with Autism). This activity was an open public webinar provided knowledge for parents in giving attention to their children with special needs and being able to educate children with autism properly and correctly during distance learning by Eny Pujiwati from Yayasan MPATI and Rezki Achyana as speakers. The event started at 01.00 p.m. with opening speech by Local Coordinator, Local Officer on Human Rights and Peace, and Project Officer of HAUS, continued with the presentation by the speakers who were guide by our moderator and also our senior, Mohammad Roehan Firdaus S.Ked. After that, we held QnA session. During that session, the participants were very active and very enthusiastic. The activity was closed by giving certificate and having a photo session with all participants and speakers.

Finally, we are very grateful for knowing that the average post-test score which had been given in the beginning of the webinar has increased. Moreover, all of the participants also gave really fine feedback. We hope this activity, HAUS, will be beneficial for all participants, especially the parents of children with special needs so that they can apply good learning methods to their children during distance learning. Last but not least, we also kindly hope that after this activity, members of SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH can use their knowledge and apply it to the community as a way to improving nation’s health.
