According to South Tangerang City Bappeda, currently South Tangerang City is experiencing many floods. This flood event occurred in several districts with different causes of flooding, one of which was the overflow of drainage channels due to clogged channels. This problem is of course the result of the accumulation of garbage that disturbs or hinders the flow plus the lack of attention to drainage which is a supporting factor for the occurrence of drainage overflow.
From DKPP data, the volume of waste produced by markets, industries and households in South Tangerang City is quite high. Since the COVID-19 pandemic spread to Indonesia, the amount of waste generated from households has increased drastically, this is due to limited community activities due to working from home (WFH). According to data received from Waste Management, Toxic and Hazardous Materials (PSLB3), the amount of waste from offices has indeed decreased but there has been an increase in household waste, with 90% of incoming household waste being disposable plastic used food ordered online.
We, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH made an activity named GO GREEN to reduce flood-affected areas in the South Tangerang area through counseling activities regarding the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on waste in the surrounding environment, food waste, and making handycrafts from used goods.

On 27th February 2021, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH has done the 2nd intervention which is the last intervention of our Community Development GO GREEN. We did direct practice to make handycrafts which are paper bags made of used cardboard for 7 grade of Ash-Shiddiq JHS’s students via Zoom Call Meeting. It was intended that students can directly implement the knowledge they already had from the first intervention in terms of zero waste and recycling. This direct practice was guided directly by Ibu Dwi Rohyatiningsih who is one of TBM Citraraya’s volunteers. Ibu Dwi also explained more about zero waste lifestyle in the end of our practice. The participants were very enthusiasmmaking handcraft from the beginning until the end. There were also awards to participants who made the best paper bag. We were really thankful for the participant and tutor anthusiasm for this last intervention. We also hope that this activity can make students aware of the importance of protecting the environment, doing a zero waste lifestyle food waste, and doing recycling as well.
