WHO has announced that the COVID-19 virus outbreak had become a global pandemic, after some countries around the world took steps to implement lockdowns and 'stay at home' orders. COVID-19 affects all aspects includes health workers, patients with COVID-19, and also people with disabilities.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, people are at worst ignored and at worst, they can be thrown away. This is due to deep-rooted abilities – the tendency of society to assume that everyone is capable, thus marginalizing anyone who is not. It is important to realize that the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures implemented to limit the spread of the pandemic have changes to human rights, including the rights of persons with disabilities.
SCORP CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand and SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH held an activity entitled CONSTANTINE (COVID-19 and Its Impact on Human Rights for Vulnerable People in Indonesia), in the form of a campaign to commemorate Human Rights Day which is celebrated every December 10. Through this activity we want to provide understanding to the public regarding the impact of COVID-19 on life and health rights against vulnerable people, especially health workers, patients with COVID-19, and persons with disabilities.
