BTS [BREAK THE SILENCE] 4TH INTERVENTION SCOME CIMSA FK UIN SH

Anamnesis is an activity between a doctor and a patient with the aim to gain information about the patient's illness and other related information so the doctor can diagnose the patient's disease. To make a good diagnosis, doctors need to have good communication skills. Patients with physical, mental, intellectual or sensory disabilities may experience trouble or difficulty in communicating, especially in terms of getting health services. To facilitate communication, the deaf communicate are using sign language. So, SCOME CIMSA FK UIN SH created a Community Development called BTS (Breaking The Silence). This community development is created to provide sign language training to medical students of UIN SH Jakarta to support communication using sign language with deaf patients during anamnesis. We had distributed the primary assessment at 27th November and got 30 students of FK UIN SH to follow the sign language training.

On 22th January 2021, we has organized the 4th intervention which is the end of the Community Development Breaking The Silence (BTS) via Zoom Call Meeting. As the last intervention we held a review of the entire material that has been learned from the 1st intervention until the 3rd intervention with Agus Subroto and Iwan Satryawan as Guru Pusat Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia. The participants were very anthusiast following the sign language class from the beginning until the class end.

At the end of the activity we also held a sign language test to check whether the sign language taught so far can be understood by the participant. There were also awards to the participant such as best participant and best anamnesis video in sign language. We were really thankful for the participant and speaker anthusiasm till the last intervention. Hopefully the lessons learned from this community development can increase knowledge about sign language and can be applied to daily life and applied when doing anamnesis or history taking with deaf patient when becoming a doctor in the future.
