HAUS [Helping a Child with Autism]

The COVID-19 pandemic situation is affecting the lives of many people, physical and social distancing which hamper the activity of communities, especially children with special needs.

Most of them do not receive the appropriate therapy during this pandemic situation because of the health protocols that must be obeyed. The impact is also felt by their parents which become stressed during this pandemic situation in addition of decreasing income, besides their children aren’t getting therapy that should be given.

Therefore, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH has opened up opportunity to provide knowledges for parents and children with special needs regarding their needs so that they can do their best in controlling the children with special needs by doing self-therapy.​

On Saturday 31st October 2020, SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH held an activity called HAUS (Helping A Child with Autism). This activity were an open public webinar which provided knowledge for parents in giving attention to their children with special needs and being able to do independent home therapy that were brought by Mr. Wardi Supardi, S.Pd as the pioneer of Jakarta Ramah Autis and Volunteer of Yayasan MPATI, dr. Isa Multazam Noor, M.Sc, Sp.KJ (K) as a Psychiatrist, and Mrs. Ade Fitria as a mother of three children and husband with special needs. The event started at 01.00 p.m. with opening speech by Local Coordinator, Local Officer on Human Rights and Peace, and Project Officer of HAUS, continued with the presentations by the speakers who were guide by our moderator and also senior, M. Abdurrahman Fariz S.Ked. After that, we held question and answer session. During that session, the participants were very active and very enthusiastic. The activity was closed by giving certificate and having a photo session with all participants and speakers. Finally, we are very grateful to receive the news that the average post-test score that had been given in the beginning of webinar is increase.

Moreover, all of the participants also gave a really fine feedback. We hope this activity, HAUS, will be beneficial for all participants, especially the parents who have children with special needs so that they can apply independent therapy at home. Last but not least, we also kindly hope that after this activity, members of CIMSA FK UIN SH can use their knowledge and apply it to the community as a way to improving nation’s health.
