Every year on 10th October, World Mental Health Day is celebrated. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the risk of mental health problems such as depression and insecurities are higher. Working and learning from home could be a stressor to some people. According to several surveys, the highest depression rate is in young adult age.

To celebrate World Mental Health Day, this year SCOPH CIMSA FK UIN created a community development called LESI (Let’s Erase Sadness and Insecurities). This community development is created to raise awareness about mental health in FK UIN SH students and how to cope with it.

The 1st intervention was held on 10th to 11th October 2020 which consist of webinar and online consultation. For the 1st intervention, we collaborated with KESSOS DEMA FK UIN SH. Before the main event, the primary assessment was distributed to FK UIN SH pre-clinical students in the form of SRQ Test. The purpose of this test is to detect students that are indicated with mental health issue and asking them to be part of the target community. The target community gets a chance to consult to a psychologist via online.

On 10th October, the webinar was held using Zoom as an online platform and is open for all FK UIN SH students. The event started at 14.00. For this webinar, there are 3 speakers with different topics. The first one is from Into The Light Indonesia with the topic “Mental Health in Adolescence” that is relevant for the participants as medical students that are mostly going through puberty. The second topic is “Mental Health in Pandemic Situation” from Rangkoel Mental Health Care. The participants were enthusiastic about these 2 topics and asked many questions during the QnA session. We also held games and the participants were very active and excited. The last topic is slightly heavier, which is “Depression” brought by dr. Adhi Wibowo Nurhidayat, Sp. KJ(K), MPH. The event closed around 17.00 with a group photo.

On 11th October, the online consultation was held using Zoom. There were 23 target communities who joined the consultation. The consultation was done by 6 psychologists. Each person gets 60 minutes with the psychologist.

This intervention has gotten positive feedbacks from the participants. We sincerely hope LESI could increase people’s knowledge and awareness about mental health. In addition, we also hope this community development could help the target lower their depression level.
